
What brings me peace is gratitude. Thinking about the things I have now, not the things I wish I had, seriously makes me feel bubbly inside. I don’t know what it is about gratitude, but it just makes me feel really good. It completely clears my mind and brings me a great sense of peace.
I think gratitude should be practiced by everyone. It’s a helpful tool to realize that your life isn’t so bad after all. It was especially helpful for me when I was going through tough emotions. There are many meditations out there that you can try to practice gratitude, and there’s journaling. I have a gratitude journal, and right before bed I write down 5 things I am grateful for. Sometimes I’m lazy and say things like: trees, my house, and pets. Or, I’ll get more specific and be more creative. This is really helpful to remind yourself of things you can enjoy in life, and it’s especially soothing right before bed.
