
This miso soup is so simple to make, you don’t even need miso or dashi! Fish sauce and soy sauce both have similar flavors; it won’t be exactly the same, but reminiscent. This recipe is great if you don’t have miso or dashi, as they aren’t always sold in supermarkets. This recipe doesn’t take long at all, and serves one, so it’s a perfect lunch when you need something quick.
Easy Budget Miso Soup
Servings
- 1 14 ounce block tofu (any firmness)
- 1 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
- 1 tsp fish sauce or 1/4 cup fish stock
- Mushrooms or dried seaweed (Optional)
Step 1
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil, then turn the heat to low.
Step 2
Add the tofu, soy sauce, and fish sauce, and any other ingredients, then simmer for 2-3 minutes, or until tofu has softened. Serve while it’s hot and enjoy!
