Why hello there! Thanks for checking out my blog. You probably want to get to know me better, considering you’re reading this now. Well, My name is Matthew Wood, and I absolutely love to cook. Actually, it’s more than love, it’s passion. I’m fifteen years old, but that doesn’t stop me from making great food and experimenting like a chef. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, most of it meal prep. As far back as I can remember I was helping my parents cook, learning valuable skills. I also watched a ton of cooking shows, learning advanced cooking techniques, and how and what flavors pair well together. After all that learning, I’m confident that I know a thing or two about cooking.
What got me in to cooking?
Glad you’re wondering! Long story short, it was kind of something that I had to learn if I didn’t want to worry about my health. I’ve struggled with anorexia in the past, and I feared eating out at restaurants or making pre-prepared foods. So what did I do? I made my own meals from scratch. I liked cooking before that, but I never really made my own meals, just helping my family make dinner. Watching cooking shows also played a big part in my love for cooking. Just watching other people cook can even be enjoyable!
What kinds of things do I like to cook?
I have an extremely diverse palate, and I will eat just about any food, as long as it doesn’t hurt my stomach. I’m not afraid to try any food, even if it smells identical to a pair of sweaty socks after a tough workout.
However, there are some exceptions; the only meat I will eat is seafood. This diet is known as pescetarianism , and I follow it because of its sustainability; red meat produces much more carbon dioxide emissions than any other food. I continue to eat fish because it is an extremely nutritious food, containing proteins, B Vitamins, Vitamin D, and Omega-3 Fatty Acids.
My favorite food group has to be vegetables. I absolutely cannot have a complete meal without a side of green beans or steamed broccoli. They’re just so good! I love their satisfying crunch. And, they can be seasoned however you please!
I also love legumes, like chickpeas, black beans, etc. Not only are they extremely nutritious, they’re also super versatile! You can mash them, mix them with rice, use them as a meat substitute, turn them into a dip, and so much more!
