Alright, giving up a word would be tough, but I know exactly what word. I literally said it when I saw this daily writing prompt.

If I had to give up one word that I use regularly, it would be the world “what”.

I use it all the time, probably in every other sentence. I mostly use it to express confusion, but also sometimes surprise and shock. If someone says somethin weird, I’m going to say “What?” and look at them weird.

The reason I would give this word up is because there are simply other words I can use in place of it that would probably be more expressive. Instead of saying “What?” when someone says something weird, I could say, “Excuse me?” And if I’m confused, I could instead say, “Could you explain that further?” or, “Why is that?”

The word “What” just isn’t necessary for me, and I would probably get my ideas and feelings across better if I didn’t use it.
