I’m excited to answer this question. There’s a lot of different ways I could go about designing a city, though I don’t have any experience doing so. But, I still think I could make a pretty good city if I tried.
First, I would make it so there were sidewalks on every single street, crosswalks everywhere, and all the crossing buttons/lights worked. This is a huge thing for me, as I love to walk and bike places. This is also great to clean up the city, as there’s less road traffic if people are walking and biking.
Second, I would make sure that there were healthy options for food available. I’d have grocery stores in all the right places that sold healthy and organic food. I would do this to prevent having any “food deserts,” so there are less health problems in the city and life expectancy increases.
I would also pay attention greatly to the landscaping, using only native plants to benefit the environment, and planting trees and other things wherever they fit.
I would also make sure that the city has great schools that enrich the students. I would have lots of athletic facilities for all different kinds of sports, and spend lots of money on building and maintaining a good school.
And lastly, I would make sure there are fun things to do in my city. Having something like a community pool or splash pad, public parks, boat landings, fishing piers, etc. Having things to do in a city really make sit enjoyable and increases wellness.
These are the main things I would do if I designed a city of the future. Of course, there would be other things I would need to focus on, like fire departments, police, hospitals, etc., which are all very important.
I hope this post teaches you something about my values, and maybe even inspires you. Have a great day!
